Built because…

The real build story.

The irritation

After seeing sales calls land at dinner time, I wanted the contact's current local time to be visible in HubSpot before anyone reached for the phone.

What I built

I built a paid HubSpot UI extension that reads a configured IANA timezone property and displays a live clock on contacts, companies, deals, tickets, orders, carts, custom objects, and help-desk records, with localized output across seventeen languages.

The hard part

Time zones combine daylight-saving transitions, changing regional rules, object-specific property configuration, localization, and records where the timezone value is missing or invalid.

Under the casing

Proof, not decoration.

Build evidence02 items
  1. A live local-time card across standard and custom HubSpot object types
  2. Configurable IANA timezone properties and localized output across seventeen languages
  • Node.js
  • Cloud Run
  • Firestore
  • Stripe
  • SendGrid
  • HubSpot

Scope of work

What I owned.

  • Product design
  • Backend engineering
  • Localization

No victory-lap math

Outcome and lesson.

Where it landed

What Time Is It? V2 is an active HubSpot app with settings, billing, migration support, email, and a sidebar card focused on one job. It is not a dialer, calendar, scheduling tool, or location-enrichment service.

What stayed

A live clock is more trustworthy when its source property is explicit. The app should show the record's configured time, not guess silently from incomplete geography.

This project has a physical address.

In the playable workshop, What Time Is It? V2 lives in the Systems & Maps Lab as a timezone station. You can inspect it without unlocking anything.
